Seven Favorite Treats in NYC

For the past twelve weeks, I have been working in gorgeous Boston and Philadelphia. I love both of these cities, but the best part about being in the Northeast is being close to New York City. On most of my days off, I find myself taking the train to the City to visit with friends…and eating all the treats. Here are some of my favorites when munchin’ my way through the greatest city in the world.

Bluestone Lane

One of my favorite brunch spots in the City. It’s an Aussie company that has made its way to New York and Philadelphia (which a location is currently across the street from my hotel so I’m feeling fine).

The latte flight is incredibly cute, featuring matcha, beetroot, and turmeric.

The avocado toast and the granola bowl are my go-to. They are healthy choices so I don’t feel bad about eating here a few times a month week.

Magnolia Bakery

All things sugar, butter, and goodness come from this bakery. This place will alway be my favorite stop for old-fashioned carbs. The hummingbird and vanilla with chocolate buttercream cupcakes are the best, and, being a Southern girl, I appreciate the perfection of their banana pudding.

Cha Cha Matcha

I have no idea why, but I am on a matcha kick. I want everything matcha. Matcha lattes, matcha popcorn, matcha donuts. So that is why Cha Cha Matcha and I have really bonded these past few weeks. This little cafe is located on the border of SoHo and Little Italy, and it has everything from drinks to pastries to frozen soft serve all with this magical green ingredient.

Big Gay Ice Cream

The best ice cream concoctions ever. I will argue with you on this. I am so happy this company has a Philly shop because I have made a few trips already here in town. I love the Monday Sundae and the Bea Arthur. Don’t ask questions. Just go.

I have heard about these macarons for years but never stopped at one of the locations. I’m so glad I finally did because I was living my Gossip Girl dreams. The little pastries are phenomenal, and the store is now promoting Barbie macarons. Are you kidding? They’re pink, so they’re perfect.

Swerve Soft Serve

This little shop is in the East Village and worth the walk over. I am now in love with taro flavored things because of their taro and coconut soft serve. They have so many toppings…and matcha. Which is the reason I will be going back.

Momofuku Milk Bar

Milk is expanding all over North America, but I just tried the the cereal milk soft serve and the cookies for the first time. It tastes like a bowl of cornflakes, and lets face it, some of us eat cereal for the milk itself. Just me? Ok cool.

Do y’all have any favorites?!

xoxo, allison
